Taken on the morning of 14th August 2005, this was shot from a vantage
point on the footpath to Durlston Castle. After a dark morning, a break
to the northeast meant the oranges of the sunrise backlit
Bournemouth on the horizon for about 15 minutes in this way, before the
light faded and the colours were lost to the grey clouds.
The old coastguard cottages can just be seen on
the point together with the coastguard lookout. The footpath leads to
Durston Country Park, The Great Globe and Tilly Whim caves. Peveril
Point and the Peveril ledges can be seen reaching out into the bay with
Old Harry Rocks in the distance.
